Testimony of Elvira (Monori) Skalski, born in Dolny Kubin, Czechoslovakia, 1919, regarding her experiences in Spisska Nova, Auschwitz and Ravensbrueck Childhood; attends a Jewish community German school and afterwards a Slovakian high school; contacts with Christians; activities in Hashomer Hatzair; move to Prague to study; not accepted to medical school because of the numerus clausus. Return home after the German occupation, March 1938; implementation of the Nuremberg Laws, yellow badge, deportations; evades deportation; marriage in 1942; her husband joins the partisans on 02 September 1944; decision to remain with her parents; deportation to Auschwitz via Presov on 01 January 1944; transfer to Ravensbrueck; with her mother in Jugendlager; her mother's illness and her inability to save her; transfer back to Ravensbrueck to perform forced labor; falling ill and being saved by a French Communist female physician; liberation by the Red Army, May 1945. Remaining an additional month due to the state of her health; her return with the women from Lidice to Prague and rehospitalization; joins her husband and brother who survived; the birth of her daughter in 1946; her daughter's aliya to Israel in 1968; aliya to Israel via Vienna with the help of the Jewish Agency.
