Expulsion from the army because he was a Jew, 1942; drafted into labor battalions; transfer from Zvorastea to Roman; life in the battalion including labor paving roads; awaiting execution; cancellation of the execution by a German officer; transfer to Jedineti; transfer to Briceni; transfer via Braila and Constanta to Lunca Dunarei; escape in a boat on the Danube River towards the end of the war; hiding from the Red Army in Buzau. Return home, autumn 1944; life under Communism; aliya to Israel, 1962.
