German occupation; escape; return home, 1940; birth of a brother, 1941; draft of her father to labor in France, 1942; expulsion of neighborhood residents from their houses, summer 1942; her family remains in their home with help from a Belgian policeman; escape with the help of an uncle; move to her uncle's home in Liege with her sister; move to a nearby village; placed in a convent near Namur a few months later; life in the village; move to an institution for problematic young women in the convent; attitude of the nuns to the sisters; visits to church; visits of her mother; interrogation after informed on by the daughter of a collaborator; liberation.
Return with her mother and siblings to Antwerp; life in Antwerp until aliya to Israel, 1949.
