Testimony of Moshe Henryk Zelikowski Gross, born in Kalisz, 1921, regarding his experiences in the Kalisz Ghetto, in hiding, and as a Polish forced laborer in Germany
His childhood; the outbreak of the war; working in the ghetto's hospital; working in a workshop sewing uniforms and making wooden clogs; his parents' deportation after the selection in 1941; deportation of his sister Devora and members of her family, to the Lodz Ghetto in August 1942 with the last handful of Jews from Kalisz; escape and hiding with Poles under a false identity as Henryk Zelikowski; joining, as a Pole, a group of Polish forced laborers in Germany; agricultural and hauling work in Laubak, until February 1945; escape and working in another village until the liberation, 9 May 1945.
His rescuers, Jozef and Michalina Janorowitz, and Antoni and Staniskana Panelski, were recognized as Righteous Among the Nations.
