Testimony of Yocheved (Steinberg) Sachs, born in Nitra, 1929, regarding her experiences in Nitra, in hiding, in Auschwitz-Birkenau and forced labor in Bad Kudowa
Life as the youngest daughter among 12 children, until 1942; aliya of four brothers to Eretz Israel and their attempts for the whole family to join them.
Rounded-up with other Jews and their release a few days later due to the community's efforts, 1942; her father's work sorting books removed from the homes of Jews; he receives a certificate classifying him as an essential worker; move to the Jewish area, 1942; continuation of studies until summer 1943; hiding places; deportation to Sered, September 1944; deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau on the eve of Sukkot, 1944 and life with her sister; meeting another sister; transfer to Bad-Kudowa and labor in a factory for aircraft parts; receives food from the local population; liberation, 08 May 1945.
Stay with Czech families; return home and reunion with two sisters and a brother; aliya to Eretz Israel via France, May 1946.
