Testimony of Pola (Postelnik) Herman, born in Chotin, 1932, regarding her experiences in Chotin, Dzhurin and an orphanage Childhood in a large and unified well-to-do family; her father is a tailor. Air-raids; acts of arson; death of relatives during the first weeks of the war; execution of young Jewish men; deportation to Dzhurin; conditions en route; abuse and robbery by Romanian soldiers and young Ukrainians; death of her grandmother and her mother's husband; help from Jews in towns; life in the Dzhurin Ghetto; help from the population in obtaining food; hunger; cold; filth; high mortality rate of children; life in the winter in a synagogue with corpses inside; move to an orphanage for approximately a year; helps her father with food; studies; disease; return home. Living conditions after the war; completion of medical studies in a college; work in a military hospital in the western Ukraine; aliya together with her husband and father, 1973.
