Testimony of Chaim Roitbord Raiberg, born in Ludwipol, Poland, 1922, regarding his experiences in Ludwipol, Kharkov, his escape to Russia and draft into the Red Army Poor family with four children; livelihood ing from trade; studying in "heder" and after in a Polish school and a Hebrew private school; education in a Tarbut school; antisemitism. Soviet occupation, 01 September 1939; escape to Kharkov by train; escape to Caucasus; living with Subbotniks for a few months; work in agriculture; moving to Krasnovosk; crossing the Caspian Sea; reaching Alma Ata in Kazakhstan with his sister who became a clerk in a kolkhoz; drafted into a Red Army labor battalion. Return to Poland after the war; his family was murdered in the ghetto and were buried in a mass grave; joining the Hashomer Hatzair kibbutz in Bytom for half a year; life on the kibbutz; reaching Italy with Aliya Bet; emigrating to the United States; retiring and aliya to Israel, 1998.
