The outbreak of war; occupation of the town on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, 1939; entry of German soldiers; taking Jewish men for snow removal work; curfew in the evenings; arrival of Jewish refugees from Germany; taking all the Jews from the town and burning their property by the Germans; escape with his brother and hiding; back to town; finding the town empty of Jews except for a few locals; arrival of Jewish refugees deported from other countries; deportation of all Jews in the town to an extermination camp, November 1942; hiding in a basement with a group of Jews; searches for food; seizure of Jews who hid and their murder; deportation of the brother to Majdanek; seizure of the witness and his escape; escape with two children from the town; rescued by a Polish farmer who hid them in a stable; moving to another town and hiding; hiding in a pit until June 1943; assistance from Polish woman in providing food; continued wandering and receiving help from the local population.
Liberation by the Red Army, July 1944; move to Romania; aliya to Eretz Israel.
