Testimony of Zvi Robert Bornstein, born in Presov, Czechoslovakia, 1926, regarding his experiences in hiding while using a false identity and his participation in the Slovak National Uprising His father was an iron merchant; witness attends the Evangelical high school until the 1939-1940 school year; vocational studies after the expulsion of the Jews from schools; transfer of property to Christians. Leaking of plans regarding the Jews by the local commander in exchange for a bribe; purchase of a Slovakian passport for his sister and her move to Budapest; membership in the Hashomer Hatzair movement; life in Nitra, May-August 1944; active participation in the anti-fascist uprising, September 1944; service as an orderly in the Zula brigade of the artillery corps; wanderings in mountains and forests after the suppression of the uprising; meets a rabbi from Presov who informs him about his parents' deportation; obtains forged documents; return to Presov using the documents; hidden by the Christians who had maintained his parents' business; escape to Bratislava with their help; joins additional family members in hiding; capture by the Gestapo at one of the bunker's exits; escape; liberation, 04 April 1945.
