Testimony of Rafael Lau, born in Budapest, 1919, regarding his experiences in Yugoslavia, Hungary and in labor battalions Family and pre-war atmosphere of co-existence with the Serbians in Stari-Becej; move to Belgrad for his education, 1937. Return to parents' home under Hungarian rule, 1941; lives with grandfather in Szeged until 1943; drafted into a labor battalion in Hungary; deportation to Schachendorf camp, January 1945; conditions in camp; liberation by the Red Army. Return home then to Belgrad to complete his studies; details on Jewish Students' House in Belgrad; marriage, and aliya to Israel, 1952.
