"Chronik der Dr.-Blumenberg-Initiative 1985-1989 (Chronicle of the Initiative in the Name of Dr. Blumenberg, 1985-1989)", booklet by Stefan Beck and Karljo Kreter, regarding the request of a group of Germans that a section of a street in Bad Nenndorf be given the name "Dr. Blumenberg" - "Chronik der Dr.-Blumenberg-Initiative 1985-1989", booklet including notes recorded chronologically regarding the activities of a small group of German idealists who, in reaction to the appearance of Neo-Nazi graffiti in Bad Nenndorf, sought to arouse a critical discussion concerning the evils of the Nazi regime by preserving the memory of those who had been persecuted by the regime for political and/or racial reasons; - Request by the group to name a section of the main street in Bad Nenndorf in honor of the Jewish physician, Dr. Blumenberg; - Requests directed towards the mayor with no response; - Rejection of the proposal with no reason given after publication of readers' letters in support of the proposal in the newspapers; - Receipt of a supportive letter from Richard Karl Freiherr von Weizsäcker, the President of Germany, by the group; - Collection of signatures of those supporting the proposal by members of the group; - Suggestion that a square be named after Dr. Blumenberg appears in the election propaganda of the Young Socialist party; - Request submitted to the mayor by members of the group to invite the descendents of Jews who had formerly lived in Bad Nenndorf to the Two Hundred Year Celebrations; - A proposal is made to the mayor to name a square (and not the main street) after Dr. Blumenberg; - Proposal rejected in a secret ballot; - Members of the group ask the mayor again to invite the descendents of Jews who had formerly lived in Bad Nenndorf to the Two Hundred Year Celebrations; - Transfer of a sum of money to the mayor for putting up memorial plaques on the houses of the last five Jews who lived in the city; - No receipt issued by the city and no report of what was done with the money; - 50 years after Kristallnacht a small majority is obtained for setting up a Mahnmal (memorial); - Suggestion by one of the town officials to also include among the victims those Nazis who were arrested for what they had done; - Prayers held in the church on 09 November 1988 in memory of the destruction of the synagogues and the murder of the Jews fifty years earlier; - Decision of the community regarding the text to be written on the memorial plaque on the Blumenberg house without inviting participation by the group and their mistake in a detail in the biographical information; - Refusal to correct the mistake; - Speech by the mayor in honor of the unveiling of the memorial plaques, 10 November 1989.
