Report-summary of the period written by Dr. Josef Loewenherz, 1946

Report-summary of the period written by Dr. Josef Loewenherz, 1946 The report is a type of summary-reconstuction of the events and developments experienced by Austrian Jewry from 1938 until the end of the war. It is divided into three stages and is both a general and a personal summary in which Loewenherz confronts his critics. This is a general survey of the activities of the Vienna Jewish community; the days of the Anschluss (annexation of Austria to Nazi Germany); violent harassment, confiscation of property, mass arrests including of the leaders, deportations and anti-Jewish legislation, but with accomplishments despite the decrees. The article ends with meditation and contemplation regarding the fate of the leader exposed to the criticism of the ungrateful public. Also in the file: - Records of questions and answers regarding the relations that existed between the Viennese Jewish community and the Zentralstelle (Central Office), which was responsible for carrying out the deportations; - Dates of the transports and more.
