Benjamin Sagalowitz Archive: Correspondence of Saly Mayer on behalf of SIG (Union of Jewish Communities in Switzerland), 1933-1939 In the file: - Correspondence of Saly Meyer, first as Executive Secretary of SIG, and later, from 1936, as Chairman of the Organization; correspondence contains data about the social status of the Swiss Jews, and demographic information about them; - Extensive documentation regarding antisemitism and the struggle against antisemitism; - Documentation regarding the problem of Jewish refugees in Europe; - Correspondence with the BSJ (Union of Jewish Citizens of Switzerland), a union founded with the goal of fighting antisemitism by segregating itself from the Eastern Europe Jews, July-October 1933; - Correspondence with the ORT (World Union for the Vocational Training of Jews)-OSE (Jewish Aid and Rescue Organization for Children in France), based in Paris, dated 09 October 1933 and 26 July 1935, including a report about the medical condition of the Jewish population of Eastern Europe, and activities of OSE-TOZ (Society for the Protection of the Health of the Jews) for improving the medical condition of the Jews, 1934. Also in the file: - Correspondence with the Emergency Assistance Organization for German Scientists(Notgemeinschaft Deutscher Wissenschaftler im Ausland) in Zurich, dated 03 March 1937 and 18 May 1934, with the Committee for Jewish Refugees (Comité voor Joodse Vluchtelingen) in Amsterdam, from April 1934, and the Committee for Relief of Refugees (Comite Fuer Fluechtlingshilfe) in Basel, 30 October 1934 and 05 December 1934.
