Testimony of Shmuel Veiner, born in Komarno, Czechoslovakia, 1926, regarding his experiences in Auschwitz-Birkenau, Gross-Rosen, Dachau, Muehldorf and other places Life before the war; relations between the Jewish community and the local population. Re-annexation to Hungary, 1938; German occupation, March 1944; efforts of the Czechs to help the Jews; deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau, June 1944; camp life including labor as a carpenter at the Daw factory; death march to Gross-Rosen; transfer to Dachau; transfer to Muehldorf, 18 January 1945; life in a subterranean camp in the forest; liquidation of the camp, 25 April 1945; liberation by the US Army at the Zeilsheim railroad station. Typhus and hospitalization in the Feldafing hospital; return to Komarno; locates two of his sisters; joins aliya training in Bratislava; aliya attempt on the ship, "Theodor Herzl"; detention in Cyprus; aliya to Eretz Israel, March 1948.
