Testimony of Genia (Meytlis) Babiker, born in Zawiercie, Poland, 1927, regarding her experiences in Zawiercie, the Zawiercie Ghetto, Auschwitz and a death march Her childhood and family background. Outbreak of the war and escape attempt; abuse; establishment of the Zawiercie Ghetto; receives a work permit for a German Army factory, 1941; her family hides in an attic during an "Aktion"; capture during the third "Aktion"; release by a policeman; deportation to Auschwitz, 1943; selection and separation from her mother; stay in camp A; disease; labor in a weaving workshop; transfer to the Gypsy block after their murder; death march to Ravensbrueck, January 1945; escape en route; wanderings in Malchow for approximately one month; liberation by the Red Army. Move to Sosnowiec; help from the Joint; joins a Hashomer Hatzair "kibbutz" in Bad Reichenhall; aliya attempt on the "Exodus" ship, 1947; stay in Emden and Bergen-Belsen DP camps; aliya to Israel, 1949; absorption.
