Her family's move to Balti; annexation by the Soviet Union, June 1940; learning about Communism and emulation of Stalin at school; termination of studies with the entry of the Romanians and Germans; deportation, and a three week march accompanied by Romanian gendarmes and German soldiers; many corpses along the sides of the road; her stay at the Dubina camp; forced labor, especially agricultural work; abuse of the prisoners by a Ukrainian guard; diseases, hunger, and cold; her father's death, late 1941; her mother's death, early 1942; her move to an orphanage in Balti with her sister by the rescue committee organized by the Jews of Romania; work for a Ukrainian farm woman in exchange for food; return to Romania, March 1944.
Staying in an orphanage in Iasi; life with a relative in Bucharest; aliya to Eretz Israel via Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon, late 1944; staying three weeks in Atlit; her sister's illness and death in the attack on the convoy to Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus.
