Hardships under Hungarian rule, 1940; rescued from deportation to Galicia, 1942; drafted to a Hungarian Army labor camp and deportation to Kosice; transfer to Szolnok via Sighet, and Debrecen one month later; labor; transfer to Taksony; labor laying railroad tracks to Torokbalint; Hungarian cruelty in the camp; relations between the Jews; transfer to the Galician front, late 1943; labor constructing an airfield and digging anti-tank trenches; the black market; German military rule in the camp; retreat; escape to Bilke, Ternovo and then to Bucuresti. Joins a Poalei Agudat Israel kibbutz near Bucuresti; marriage, September 1945; aliya to Eretz Israel, October 1945.
