Testimony of Shulamit (Getschinska) Widawski, born in Aleksandrow, 1920, regarding her experiences in Aleksandrow, in the Lodz and Warsaw Ghettos, and in the Majdanek and Auschwitz-Birkenau camps Childhood In Aleksandrow; her hasidic family were followers of the Radomsker Rebbe; the German occupation, 01 September 1939; burning of Jews in synagogues in the town; the move to Lodz; escape from the Lodz Ghetto to Warsaw, in the fall of 1940; work in the Balzerowitz plant to support her family; gradual liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto through "Aktions" and deportations; disappearance of her father and sister in an "Aktion", fall 1942; termination of work at the plant; living in Mila 3; preparation of bunkers; sealing of the ghetto and the beginning of the uprising 19 April 1943; raids and the situation in the bunkers; German soldiers extracting the fighters from the bunkers 13 May 1943; concentrating the Jews in the Umschlagplatz; Polish and Ukrainian abuse of the Jews; deportation to Majdanek; deportation to Auschwitz, July 1943; selection by Mengele; life and work in Auschwitz; the arrival of Jews from Greece; evacuation of the camp on 18 January 1945; the death march; traveling by train to Ravensbrueck, and from there to Neustadt Glewe on 7 May 1945; liberation by the US Army, the arrival of the Russians. Return to Poland; aliya.
