Annexation to the Soviet Union, 1940; nationalization of his father's factory; his father's detention by the NKVD; German occupation; release of his father from prison; deportation to the Kaunas Ghetto; riots by Lithuanians; "Aktions"; deportation to the Seventh Fort; escape; large "Aktion", 28 October 1941; learns carpentry in a vocational school in the ghetto; labor making wooden shoes; ghetto is turned into a camp, March-April 1944; deportation to Kaufering camp; labor constructing a subterranean aircraft factory; death of his father; evacuation of the camp, April 1945; liberation by the US Army, 30 April 1945. Hospitalization; meets Jewish Brigade soldiers; move to Italy with the Jewish Brigade; aliya to Eretz Israel, July 1946.
