Testimony of Zeev Witold Marian Jakubowicz, born in Krakow, Poland, 1928, regarding his experiences in Niepolomice, the Bochnia Ghetto, Trzebina, Pustkow, Auschwitz and Gleiwitz Outbreak of the war; his father is drafted into the Polish Army and is taken captive by the Hungarians; his family escape to Chelm-Lubelski and return to Krakow; their home is confiscated; family escape to Niepolomice, winter 1940; work to support his mother and brother; reunion with their father in Bochnia; deportation to the Bochnia Ghetto, autumn 1941; labor in carpentry; his uncle's rescue of the family from a transport, summer 1942; obtains work at Staedtische Werkstaete with help from his uncle and hides there; escape from an "Aktion" to Krakow, January 1943; liquidation of the Bochnia Ghetto, summer 1943; the family, together with the witness, is assigned to the Raemungskommando, to labor burning corpses, gathering and sorting valuables; deportation of the family to Trzebina camp; deportation of his parents to Auschwitz; transfer to Pustkow camp with his younger brother and a group of skilled professionals; hunger; disease; Red Cross visit; deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau following being informed on by inmates, 1944; transfer to forced labor in Gleiwitz III; death march via Blechhammer, January 1945; escape from the camp, capture and return to Gleiwitz; liberation by the Red Army. March back to Krakow with his brother, February 1945; rescue of Jews during the pogrom in Krakow; high school studies; wanderings through Czechoslovakia, Germany, Austria and Italy; work with Palyam; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1948.
