Annexation of the area to Hungary, 1939; life under Hungarian rule; deportation of those without Hungarian citizenship to Galicia, August 1941; cruelty of the Ukrainians; murder of family members in the killing pits; witness and his father are rescued from death and escape the pit; wanderings; arrival in Budapest, May 1942; life in an orphanage under Swiss protection; his father is drafted to the labor battalions, spring 1942; German occupation of Hungary, 19 March 1944; Arrow cross members enter the orphanage, November 1944; the children are rescued from death; transfer to a ghetto; liberation by the Red Army, January 1945. His father's return from Mauthausen camp, July 1945; leaves Hungary, August 1945; life in Fuerth DP camp; his father's remarriage; aliya to Eretz Israel, 1948.
