Drafted into the Polish Army at Warsaw, September 1939; entry of the Germans; return to Lodz; deportation to the Lodz Ghetto, 1940; labor as a foreman on a farm in Marysin, 1941; fostering refugees; interrogation of his father by the secret police, 1942; ghetto life including help in the smuggle of food and rescue of Jews from deportation; liquidation of the ghetto; deportation of most the family to Auschwitz-Birkenau; transfer to Kaltwasser camp, autumn 1944; camp life including labor logging trees; liquidation of the camp, winter 1944; transfer to Friedland camp; camp life including forced labor in the camp commander's greenhouse; transfer to Schottenwerk camp, April 1945; liberation by the Red Army, 08 May 1945. Return home; displays of antisemitism; move to Berlin; move to an UNRRA camp in Stuttgart; camp life including work as a counselor in agriculture; move to Italy; unsuccessful attempt to make aliya to Eretz Israel, 1946; deportation to Cyprus; aliya to Israel, 1949.
