Life in a Bund family; his father was a merchant; witness attends a Bund school; arrival of refugees after their deportation from Germany due to lack of citizenship, as of 1938.
German occupation, September 1939; travel with his mother to his grandparents in Grodziec, January 1940; return to Lodz, several months later; confiscation of Jewish property by the Germans; establishment of the Lodz Ghetto, 08 February 1940; establishment of the Judenrat; coordination of classes for children in a school; receives food coupons in exchange for labor; labor of his father in a leather factory and his mother's labor in a sewing workshop; termination of studies, 1941; labor in trade on the streets; capture by the Gestapo; detention and release after payment of a bribe, several days later; in hiding during the large "Aktion", 1943; deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau, 1944; selection; separation from his parents; life in the children's block with his brother; death march to Mauthausen, 16 January 1945; wanderings from camp to camp; Allied air-raids; witness to cannibalism; transfer to Gunskirchen; liberation by the US Army.
Hospitalization in Salzburg; aliya to Eretz Israel via Italy on the "Wedgwood" ship, 1946; detention in Atlit; training on a kibbutz.
