Zionist family; difficulties earning a livelihood; attends "heder" and a state school; head of the local Hapoal Hatzair youth movement; studies tailoring; escape to Hungary; work as a tailor; on an aliya training farm; group is disbanded; drafted to the Hungarian Army, 1942; paves roads near Debrecen; moves from place to place as needed by the Army; receives protective passport through the help of a non-Jewish friend, which permitted him to leave for a Swiss protected house; deportation by train to Buchenwald, winter of 1944; labor digging a subterranean factory; transfer to Flossenburg; harsh attitude; temporary labor; cold, hunger and beatings; labor in a sewing workshop; evacuation to Prague and from there by train to Mauthausen, April 1945; visit to the camp of Hajj Amin al Husseini - the Mufti of Jerusalem - with a group of German Army officers; deteriorates into a Muselmann; description of the camp and the state of the survivors; liberation by the US Army, May 1945.
Return to Chust; reunion with his sister; marriage; move to Vienna and from there through the Alps to Nonantola in Italty; from there to Genoa; aliya to Eretz Israel with his wife, son and sister onboard the "Kedma" ship.
