Testimony of Lea Nishri, born in Borsa, Romania, 1930, regarding her experiences in the Viseul de Sus Ghetto, Auschwitz and a death march Religious family with seven children; unified Jewish community; her father's work in a sawmill; financially secure; languages spoken at home are Yiddish, Hungarian and Romanian. Hungarian occupation, 1940; deterioration of the situation; increased hardship with the German occupation, 1944; deportation of the Jews from Borsa to the Viseul de Sus Ghetto; deportation to Auschwitz, June 1944; selection; separation from her sisters and rescue from the crematorium; transfer to the children's barrack in camp A under the supervision of Dr. Mengele and then to the Gypsy camp with the dwarfs who had been concentrated by Dr. Mengele for medical experiments; camp life until 18 January 1945; approach of the front; death march; Allied forces air-raids enable the marching female inmates to hide and to rest; march until the railroad station and then travel to Ravensbrueck; transfer to Malchow; approach of the Red Army front and the departure of the German soldiers, civilians and Jewish inmates on a march in the direction of the West. Return to Borsa, October 1944; harsh life under Soviet rule; move to a DP camp in Munich, January 1945; move to Bergen-Belsen DP camp and then convalescence in Sweden; travel to Cyprus, February 1945; aliya to Eretz Israel, September 1947.
