Testimony of Zipora Pestes, born in Rejowiec, Poland, 1920, regarding her experiences in the Chelm Ghetto, Majdanek, Skarzysko and Leipzig Traditional, Zionist, poor family with five people; her father is a peddler; witness attends a high school in Chelm. Completion of her high school studies and return to her parents' home at the outbreak of the war; establishment of the Chelm Ghetto, 1942; labor of most of the ghetto inmates in a sugar factory; deportation of 1,900 ghetto inmates to Sobibor and Grabow during the first "Aktion"; deportation of the remainder of the ghetto inmates to Majdanek, 05 June 1943; selection and separation from her mother; labor and ghetto life; transfer to Skarzysko, one month later; labor in an ammunitions and weapons factory; hunger; approach of the Red Army front and transfer to Leipzig with her sister, September 1944; labor in a weapons factory; camp life; Allied air-raids; liberation by the Red Army, 12 April 1945. March to the Polish border and then travel by train to Warsaw and then to Chelm and Lodz; marriage; aliya to Israel, 1950; witness testifies in Dusseldorf at the trial of the woman responsible for her block in Majdanek, "Bloody Brigitte", 1978.
