Testimony of Bernardo Berl Hirsh Groser, born in Kamionki, Poland, 1906, regarding his experiences in Italy, his activities in refugee relief organizations and his escape to Switzerland Move to Zwickau, Germany, 1910; his family; leaves school due to antisemitism; move to Annaberg Erzgebirge, 1925; success in business; excellent relations with non-Jews; move to Belgium, 1936; move to France; rejection of his application for a visa; move to Milan. Work with the COMASEBIT Committee for Assistance to the Jews in Italy, until late 1939; establishment of the organization, DELASEM Delegation for the Assistance of Jewish Immigrants, based in Genova and work as its director; help to refugees from many places throughout Europe; in hiding in a village near Genova, 1943; in hiding in a monastery; unsuccessful attempt to escape to Switzerland; stay in refugee camps in Switzerland; release from the camps to work with the organization Verein fuer juedische fluechtlingshilfe, Association for Jewish Refugees. Return to Italy, September 1945.
