Outbreak of the war on his birthday, December 1939; deportation of the family to Kaluszyn; decision to return home due to the insufferable cold; help to smuggle goods; ghetto life; deportation with his brother to Poznan, autumn 1941; camp life; forced labor; transfer to Auschwitz, summer 1943; transfer to Lagisza sub-camp two weeks later; forced labor bending iron, conveying cement and similar tasks; transfer to Buna, late 1944; small improvement in the camp conditions; labor transferring raw materials in an ammunitions factory and labor in fine mechanics; death march to Gleiwitz without food or water for three weeks, January 1945; departure from the camp in an open train toward Dora camp, several minutes before the liberation of the camp; forced labor transferring raw materials in a missile factory; transfer in trains to the Germans' residences in Bergen-Belsen, early April; inmate in Bergen-Belsen until the liberation by the British Army.
