Outbreak of the war; escape to a village and return, several days later; city, which was built of wood, is set on fire in order to make people flee; escape to an attic; people are shot in the market; Soviet occupation; escape to Brest Litowsk and then to Bialystok; sleeps in a synagogue with other refugees; move to Vitebsk; labor in metalworking for the Red Army; return to Poland with his sister whom he met in Kiev; requests a travel permit to Lwow; detention and deportation with other unmarried men to a detention camp for criminals; outbreak of war between the Soviet Union and Germany; deportation on foot in the direction of the forests and transfer to a Soviet transit camp; solitary confinement; penal camp; accused of establishing subversive elements; hospitalization for a foot infection; move to Uzbekistan.
Work in various places until 1946; return to Poland; aliya to Israel, 1948.
