Draft into the military, March 1941; taken captive; escape to Zagreb; antisemitic and anti-Serbian demonstration at the university in Zagreb; witness' marriage to a Jewish woman; in hiding; escape to Cetinj with the help of a friend in the Ustasa; detention by the Italians on suspicion of being a Communist; released by his brother; surrender of Italy; German occupation; deportation to Bergen-Belsen; camp life, labor, hunger, disease and the solidarity among the inmates; gathers information; deportation in cattle cars, 11 March 1945; travel for 17 days; attack by Allied aircraft; liberation by the Red Army.
Stay in Trebitz, an abandoned German village, for five months; witness to death due to overeating; move to Zagreb and Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, November 1945; receives information from neighbors concerning the death of his family members; work as a veterinarian in Bosnia until 1992; escape from the civil war and aliya to Israel.
