German occupation, 1941; murder of Jewish youths; displays of antisemitism; deportation to the Riga Ghetto; obtains forged Latvian documents; disappearance of her father and his murder, March 1942; disappearance of her mother in the Gestapo office, 16 October 1942; move to an orphanage; life using a false identity in the orphanage until the end of the war.
