Life in Rokitno until the war.
Soviet occupation; travel to relatives in Malin; German occupation of Wolyn; return home; decrees, anti-Jewish legislation, yellow badge; relatives from the surrounding areas join them; handing over all valuables to the Germans; move to an area that eventually becomes part of the ghetto; Rokitno Ghetto; concentration of all the local residents, August 1942; selection by age and gender; sudden mass escape after a woman shouts "Gewalt"; witness falls; injury; rescue by his father; fate of the Jews who remained in the ghetto who were later murdered in Sarny; escape of his grandfather while naked; his family finds hiding places in forests; search for the partisans and joins Medvedov's unit; life with the partisan unit; dispersion of his family and their ways to survive; obtains food in exchange for woolen items knit by his mother; stories and episodes during their wanderings; return to Rokitno, January 1944; fear of the Ukrainians; attends a school; murder of his father by Bandera men, February 1945; death of his brother, a Polish Army officer, in Berlin, several days before the end of the war.
Aliya attempt to Eretz Israel, winter, 1947; detention in Cyprus by the British; smuggle of the witness from Cyprus to Haifa in a sack; absorption in Eretz Israel; visit to his family's former home.
