Testimony of Pircha (Volf) Kestenbaum, born in Chust, 1923, regarding her experiences in concentration and labor camps in Poland, Czechoslovakia and Germany The family; the community; education; annexation to Hungary, 1939; daily hardships; deportation of non-Hungarian citizens, 1941; German occupation, 19 March 1944; arrest and escape from the Gestapo; deportation to the ghetto, Nisan 5704 (March-April 1944); living conditions in the ghetto; deportation to Auschwitz, Sivan 5704 (May-June 1944); selection and disinfection process; living with her sister in Block 8; transfer with her sister to Reichenbach camp, July 1944; forced labor in a factory with women from the Netherlands; transfer to Langenbielau camp; humane attitude of the factory manager where she labored; Yom Kippur in the camp; arrival of inmates in a poor physical condition from other camps, January 1945; approach of the Red Army and evacuation of the camp, March 1945; arrival at Parschnitz camp; forced labor in the snow; deportation to Kratzau, April 1945; forced labor in an ammunitions factory; liberation by the Red Army, 7 May 1945. Return to Chust, 1949; aliya to Israel.
