Testimony of Klara Maayan, born in Munich, Germany, 1915, regarding her experiences in the Lwow Ghetto and in hiding in Warsaw Her family and Jewish life in Rzeszow until 1937; activities in youth movements; details about the Jewish community's leaders; studies in Warsaw and work in Korczak's orphanage as of 1937; details about Korczak, his educational methods, his impressions after a visit to Eretz Israel and about the orphanage; studies in an institute for Jewish studies. Outbreak of the war and travel to Warsaw from a summer camp in Zakopane; escape with her parents and brother to Lwow; move to Kaunas, January 1940 and an unsuccessful attempt to receive visas from the Japanese Embassy; return to Lwow; deportation of Jews to Siberia; escape from a mass murder by Ukrainians, July 1941; "Aktions" in March 1942 and August 1942; transfer to forced labor in Czortkow camp; the small ghetto in Lwow; mass murder and the hanging of Judenrat men in Lokietka Street; escape to Warsaw using forged documents; finds a hiding place; their Polish neighbors remain silent even though they know about the Jewish identity of the witness and her family. Aliya to Eretz Israel via Czechoslovakia and Romania, May 1945; life in Kibbutz Tel Yitzchak.
