Concentration of the city's Jews in the synagogues' courtyard, January 1942; order given to remove the Torah scrolls from the holy arks and throw them into a bonfire; refusal by the Jews and their murder on the spot; heavy rains fall towards evening, which terminates the burning of the Torah scrolls' parchment, and the remaining parchment, soaked in the Jews' blood, lays charred on the earth; murder of some of the Jews who had been in hiding next to the synagogues; remainder of the Jews are taken to an unknown destination and murdered; witness receives the remnants of the Torah scroll parchments from the Pole, and makes a vow to donate the parchments to Yad Vashem; witness carries out his vow.
