Deportation to Buchenwald; is released and returns to Prague; entry of the Germans into Czechoslovakia; lives in Berlin; returns to Dresden; works in the Zeiss-Ikon factory; deportation of his parents to Riga; deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau, March 1943; labors in Bau Kommando; after suffering from an illness labors in a pharmacy for the SS; joins the male orchestra in the camp; uprising of the Sonderkommandos, October 1944; transfer to Ohrdurf camp; labors in an office; is appointed block elder; escapes with three friends; liberation by US Army, April 1945.
Studies in Paris; journeys to the US, 1948.
