Testimony of Jozef Marchwinski, a Righteous Among the Nations, born in Lodz, Poland, 1908, regarding his experiences in Lida, Nieswiez, with the partisans in the Mir and Naliboki forests, servng with the 3rd Polish Division and other places Detention by the Polish Secret Police on the charge of Communist activities; sentenced to three years imprisonment. Outbreak of the war between Poland and Germany; escape with his Jewish wife, Sonia Sokolovska, to the Soviet Union; work in Lida; work in Nieswiez; outbreak of the war between the Soviet Union and Germany; murder of 400 Jews including his wife in an "Aktion" in Nieswiez, 30 October 1941; death of his baby son; escape to a forest with Serkowski, a Polish friend; initiates organization of a partisan battalion comprised of survivors from the Mir Ghetto, Nieswiez Ghetto and Stolpce Ghetto in the Mir and Naliboki forests; combat with the Belorussian police during a partisan activity in the vicinity of Nieswiez; death of Dov Alperovitz, the partisan; wounded in combat against the Germans, January 1943; distribution of battalion members among the battalions in the Tshkalov brigade; blood libel concerning the murder of a Soviet partisan; murder of Zuckerman, the partisan, by Ponamarov, the Soviet commander, in reaction to the libel; appointment as deputy commander of the Bielski battalion; appointment as deputy commander of the Komsomolskaya Brigade; appointment as chief of staff of the Polish Pderwszy Pulk Warszawy partisan division; murder of 11 Jewish partisans by a group of Poles from the NSZ in the vicinity of Iwieniec; meeting with Red Army soldiers, June 1944; appointment as deputy commander of the Polish 3rd Division; anti-aircraft division activities at the first Ukrainian front under the command of Marshal Koniev; release from the Polish Army, 1946. Work as the Lodz militia commander; work as the Olsztyn militia commander; arrest on the charge of Trotskyite activities; sentenced to two years imprisonment; life in the Mokotow prison; events related to Polish October; clearing of his name; request submitted to the Israeli Ambassador in Poland to serve in the IDF with his two sons; persecution and interrogations by the Polish Secret Service; leaves Poland with his family, 1969; emigration to Denmark.
