File containing secret orders regarding Jews issued by the administration of Bessarabia, Romania, 1941 - 1942

- Correspondence between the Bessarabian administration, Ismail county police and the Romanian government on a series of anti-Jewish measures adopted following the outbreak of the war with the USSR; - By order of Marshal Antonescu, the Minister of the Interior and General Voiculescu : --- Jews are forbidden to travel from one town to another, July 1941; --- Exclusion from the army, Jewish census, miserly payment and forced labor for Jews (review); --- Supervision is to be ensured so that Jews do not cross the Dniester from Ukraine into Bessarabia; --- Jews have to wear a distinctive sign consisting of a yellow star made of cloth; --- Establishment of ghettos and camps; --- Strict measures will be taken to control the deaths of Jews in ghettos and camps and to identify the bodies in order to prevent fraud involving fictitious deaths and escapes of Jews; - Letters from : --- Bolgrad and Reni police to Ismail county police reporting there are no more Jewish ghettos and camps in their town October 24, 1941; --- Government of Bessarabia to Ismail county police with instructions about the "Jewish blood" census; - Report from the Chisinau Regional police department to the Ismail police informing them that the passage of Jewish convoys across the Dniester is being photographed by communist agents and to instruct the gendarmes to reinforce security, November 6, 1941.
