The scanned files from the Andijan archive contain the files of the city executive committee: memos on the evacuation of the Volodarsky garment factory from Dnepropetrovsk; correspondence between departments regarding evacuation and financing of works to restore the factory, requests and letters from evacuated citizens for help in arranging housing, release of buildings and use for the needs of the evacuation; employment in schools; reports on the implementation of work plans in agriculture. Under extraordinary war conditions, Uzbekistan was not prepared to receive the huge number of evacuees. There were not enough sanitary and hygienic buildings to accommodate them.
Correspondence regarding the search for missing relatives; requests for the adoption of orphans, including children from Poland, as well as the return of children from orphanages to their families. During World War II, Uzbeks took in many orphaned children.
