Memoirs of Berta (Weintraub) Weiss, born in Seredne in 1929, about her experiences in Antwerp and in hideouts in Belgium during the Holocaust Weintraub family emigrates from Poland to Belgium in 1930; childhood in Antwerp; war erupts in May 1940; family attempts unsuccessfully to escape to France; returns to Antwerp; life under German occupation; anti-Jewish legislation; witness's father, Uscher Hirsch Weintraub; deported to a labor camp in France and thence to Auschwitz, perishes; activity of witness's mother in the Communist resistance before and uring the war; witness and mother placed (separately) in hiding places in early 1942; witness hidden in various places in West-Vlaanderen (West Flanders) province, including Roeselare and Menen inter alia; witness's activity as a liaison for the resistance (smuggling weapons, money, and ration cards to comrades in hiding); meets with mother on rare occasions; Belgium liberated by Allied forces; witness and mother return to Antwerp; mother works in Jewish community public kitchen; witness meets the Jewish Brigade member Nathan Rosenstein, her future husband; witness immigrates to Eretz Israel as his wife in October 1946; son born.
