The Lithuanian Special Archives was established within the Lithuanian Archives Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania in 1995. The Lithuanian Special Archives (Lietuvos ypatingasis archyvas) preserves documents of the Soviet Union State Security Committee (KGB) LSSR unit, the LSSR Ministry of the Interior (MIA), the Lithuanian Communist Party (LCP), and LSSR institutions, companies and organizations, 1918-1991.
