Documentation from the Stadtarchiv Bremerhaven, Germany, from 1908 to 1996, photocopied for the Yad Vashem Archives in 2018 Included are documents about Jews from various divisions of the municipal archives of Bremerhaven, among which: - death affidavits (Todeserklärungen) from the magistrate's court (Amtsgericht) of Bremerhaven; - documentation from Division 360 (Kirchensachen, jüdische Gemeinde) in matters of ritual and Jewish communities (dealing mainly with the community of Wesermünde and including community members' tax records, government financial support for the community, Jewish-owned businesses and their Aryanization or eradication during the period of Nazi rule, records and valuation of Jewish property including the wording of laws and regulations that relate to the matter, and files with correspondence between the Geestemünde community and the authorities; - files from various divisions concerning the Jews of Wesermünde, including (inter alia) lists of members of Jewish organizations, files about the municipal education system including Jewish pupils and their treatment, cultural activities of Nazi organizations, and the city's Jewish cemetery; - files from various divisions concerning the Jews of Bremerhaven, including (inter alia) files on dismissal of civil servants by the Nazis and vetting of civil servants' Aryan origin; a text about the history of the Jews of Bremerhaven, written by a local historian; statistical data on various religions in the city; the treatment of foreign and Jewish pupils; introduction of Kennkarten (ID cards) in 1938; post-war material on the attitude toward Israel and toward surviving members of the community; and two collections of newspaper clippings: one from the Nazi era, concerning persecution of Jews, and one from the post-war era, dealing with Israel, the Eichmann trial, and antisemitic incidents.
