Testimony of Etel (Wahl) Miller, born in Frasin, Romania in 1927, regarding her experiences in Cernauti Childhood and her family in Cernauti; family’s move to Botoșani following the economic crisis from 1932 to 1937; family’s return to Cernauti; antisemitism; the Soviet occupation in 1940; conclusion of studies; outbreak of the Russo-German War in June 1941; the German-Romanian occupation; restrictions imposed on the Jews, including wearing a yellow badge and a curfew during most of the daytime hours; expulsion to the Cernauti ghetto in October 1941; family receives permission to leave the ghetto because of the father’s service as an army officer; life on the “Aryan” side; liberation by the Red Army in 1944; family’s return to Romania; move to Bucharest; aliya to Israel in 1972.
