Testimony of Amada (Pilosov) Levi, born in Razgrad, Bulgaria in 1926, regarding her experiences in Varna, Preslav, and Imrenchevo Daughter of a well-to-do traditional family in Razgrad; father an army officer in World War I; move to Varna when she was one year old due to her father’s work; attempted escape with the members of her youth movement on the “Salvador”; disembarking from the ship in March 1940 due to her father’s opposition; the German occupation in March 1941; expulsion; mother subjected to an invasive search of her private parts and suffers a severe injury; arrival in Preslav; receiving assistance for her mother’s treatment and a place to live because her father had been an army officer during World War I; escape to Imrenchevo; receiving assistance from a friend of her father’s; liberation and return to Varna in 1944; aliya to Israel in 1949; absorption and rehabilitation.
