Testimony of Mór Lederer, born in Sopron, Hungary in 1887, regarding his experiences as the director of an orphanage in Budapest Work as the director of an orphanage for boys; transfer of the children of forced laborers to the orphanage; British Army air-raids on the building on 17 September 1944; transfer of Jewish men and women who are 16 to 40 years old to forced labor in service in labor battalions in mid-October 1944; giving of protective documents of the Swedish Embassy and the Red Cross to the children in the orphanage with help from Valdemar Langlet and Raoul Wallenberg in April 1944; staff members of the orphanage receive protective documents from the International Red Cross; deportation of the children and the orphanage staff to the Budapest Ghetto by Arrow Cross Party men on 05 December 1944; killing [murder] of people; transfer back to the orphanage, thanks to Ambassador Weyermann; detention of the children by Arrow Cross Party men on 24 December 1944; transfer of the children to two buildings on Sziv Street in Budapest; making of contact with the president of the International Red Cross, Otto Komoly, on 25 December 1944; execution of two of the children; transfer to various places in Budapest; air-raids; escapes; murders by Arrow Cross Party men; among those murdered was the educator József Csillag; transfer of the children back to the orphanage; liberation on 13 January 1945; Interviewer: Margit Oblath.
