Testimony of Yitzkhak Libovitz, born in Nitra, Czechoslovakia in 1937, regarding the persecution of his family and his experiences in Slovakia Son of an Orthodox Jewish family; father a carpenter; partition of Czechoslovakia; the Slovakian fascist regime; father receives an order to report to the Nováky camp in 1941; father’s labor in carpentry during the renovation of the camp; deportation of mother and five children to Nováky in 1942; life in the camp; study and work; weekly transports to the extermination camps; father removed by the German commanding officer from the list of those to be transported; outbreak of the Slovak National Uprising in August 1944; escape to the region of the partisans; finding a hiding place in a forest hut in Staré Hory; manhunts by the Germans; gunfire at the hut; capture by Hungarian soldiers in May 1945; aliya to Israel in 1949.
