Childhood in a well-off family; father: wheat merchant; attends a Jewish school up to fourth grade and then a public school; good relations with Bulgarians; activity in the Hashomer Hatzair movement; fear in the air; family business shuttered; refugees from Sofia arrive and are housed in the family home in 1943; liberation in September 1944; immigration to Israel in 1950; adjustment to life in Israel and starting over.
