His father's drafting to labor battalions and his death, 1943; German occupation, March 1944; deportation to a ghetto in a nearby village; transfer to the Debrecen Ghetto, spring-summer 1944; his older brother was taken for forced labor; the deportation transport to Auschwitz was redirected to Strasshof; death march and arrival in Mauthausen, winter 1945; reunion with his brother; transfer to Gunskirchen and reunion with his uncle; liberation, May 1945. Sailing to Eretz Israel and exile to Cyprus, 1946; arrival in Eretz Israel, 1947.
