Correspondence between Posse of the Gemaeldegalerie Dresden, the Reich chancellery, and Prinz Philipp von Hessen, regarding the latter's acquisition of artworks in Italy.
Following the appointment of Adolf Hitler as the German Chancellor in 1933, Philipp was appointed Oberpräsident (Governor) of Hesse-Nassau in June 1933. With the electoral success of the Nazi party, he also became a member of the Reichstag. Philipp played an important role in the consolidation of Nazi rule in Germany. As son-in-law of the king of Italy, he was a frequent go-between for Hitler and Benito Mussolini, and he acted as an art agent for Hitler in Italy.
