Childhood in an Orthodox religious family; German occupation ensues; anti-Jewish laws; brother deported to the Oranienburg camp in 1939; witness pays to receive brother's ashes; brother-in-law escapes to Shanghai; community sent to the Sosnowiec ghetto; parents and seven siblings sent to the camps; witness works at a mine in Bytom; camps in Silesia; assembles weapons in the Peterswaldau camp; liberated by Red Army forces in May 1945; returns to Poland; reunited with brother; gets married; immigrates to Israel in 1957.
